About
It all started back in the 1970’s when a group of friends with their dogs met up with Randy Tyson Witmer & her police dog group to train in obedience and protection work. To further challenge their handler skills and bring out the natural capabilities of their dogs, the group gave Schutzhund (aka IPO or IGP) a try and the rest as they say is HISTORY.
Menlo Park Schutzhund Club was formed in 1980 and voted in as a full member club in the United Schutzhund Clubs of America back in 1982. Founding members Randy Tyson Witmer, David Witmer, & Sara Hitchens are all still active members of the club today. ill last forever |
We welcome new members! While we are primarily a German Shepherd club, we have members with different breeds who are training for fun, for sport, for regional, national & international competitions and to qualify their dogs for breeding. The club usually hosts several working trials a year, as well as a Youth Evaluation, Conformation Show and Breed Survey for German Shepherd Dogs.
After 40+ years the equipment and training might have evolved but the friendships and bond between handlers and dogs will last forever. |
